THE OPPORTUNITY:
A global business and leading manufacturer of precision engineered products based in Newark is currently looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to help maximise profitability and reduce the total cost of externally procured product and services.
This is a newly created position due to the ongoing expansion and success of the business. This is a hands-on role which will offer considerable breadth and scope for development, together with the exposure and experience of dealing with major suppliers at senior international level on behalf of a global leader in its field.
THE ROLE AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established central team that holds responsibility for the strategic procurement spend of circa. £160 million covering production materials, energy and manufactured goods and you will be responsible for an annual spend of £7 million.
Reporting directly to the Purchasing Director, this is a high profile role that demands impeccable standards and accomplished procurement skills at the most senior level.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain data bases on a range of key information e.g. alternative suppliers, materials costs, market intelligence, industry labour rates and set up times scrap rates
Provide cost breakdowns on components to allow targeting areas of opportunity
Provide monthly trend information on key commodities.
Develop cost improvement programmes against allocated categories
Define and propose category specific strategies
Supplier sourcing and selection
Provide purchasing support to local and European internal clients
Implement effective supplier performance measures
Champion continuous improvement.
To lead and/or participate in Supplier development teams in order to generate specific improvements for the company.
EXPERIENCE SOUGHT IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
Experience in global procurement environment
Strong supplier management skills
Experience negotiator
