Richard's running the first ever Charity Kilomathon!

Derbyshire finance recruiter Richard Bowe is running the world’s first Kilomathon on Sunday 14th March and in doing so is raising money for Rainbow Trust Children’s charity.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides practical and emotional support to families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness; immediate help is available for families 24 hours a day. Support is offered from diagnosis through treatment and, should a family become bereaved, we continue to support them for as long as they need us. We help family members cope with the present and prepare them for the future.

Rainbow Trust relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and through the generosity of our supporters we are able to help around 1,000 families a year.
With your help the charity can support more families. Below is an idea of how the money is used:

• £100 pays for five visits to a child in hospital
• £500 keeps their 24 hour telephone helpline running for a month
• £800 pays for 40 hours care from a family support worker

RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST APPOINTED TO BUYING SOLUTIONS FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

Macildowie, the Midlands based HR and financial recruitment specialist has secured a place on the recently awarded Non-medical, Non-Clinical Resources framework agreement available to the NHS and public sector.

This means that for the next two years, Macildowie will be supplying the NHS and related public bodies in England and Wales with non-medical and non-clinical temporary and fixed term staff in the fields of administration, finance, HR and procurement.

Places on this national framework are hotly contested and to make the selection process, Macildowie had to prove that it could operate to the highest Government standards. This meant demonstrating that it could offer quality candidates, carried out rigorous pre-placement checks, offered best practice and value for money and that it complied totally with EU and UK regulations.

“We’re delighted to add another Governmental contract to our portfolio of clients,” explains Macildowie director, James Calder.

“It’s also pleasing to see that the professional standards that we have developed working alongside the likes of E-On and Next also appeal to the NHS.”

This news comes just a month after Macildowie became one of the first recruitment agencies in the country to affiliate all of its team to its industry body, the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP).

The Non-Medical , Non-Clinical Resources framework agreement is managed by Buying Solutions – the national procurement partner for UK public services.

13 PROVES LUCKY NUMBER FOR STUDENT ACCOUNTANTS

Midlands HR and financial recruitment specialist Macildowie has celebrated its 13^thyear as the main sponsor of the Annual Dinner of the Nottingham Chartered Accountants Students Society (NCASS).

The Dinner was this year held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, where 400 Nottingham students, lecturers and accountants gathered to enjoy fine dining, music and prestigious prize presentations led by Professor David Hunt, President of the Society.

As well as contributing to the costs of the NCASS Annual Dinner and other social events, Macildowie’s sponsorship also helps finance some of the running of the Student Society itself, by contributing to administration team costs. This Society was created to support students through their studies and crucially provide them with employment advice to help them kick-start their professional careers.

“We’re extremely grateful to the team at Macildowie for their crucial support, as without this type of funding from corporate sponsors, NCASS wouldn’t be able to provide such an excellent support to its student members,” explains Vice Chair of NCASS Matt Backler, who is also an assistant manager at Deloitte LLP.

“The current global financial climate is making entering the job market a daunting task for students. We’re finding that help from societies like ours can make all the difference when getting a first foot on the career ladder.”

Children in Need Quiz Results

A massive WELL DONE to all the people who entered the Nottingham team “Children In Need” Quiz on Friday. We had 50 teams enter and, thanks to you, raised £250 for a really worthwhile cause.

And now, the news you have been waiting for……the team who won the quiz are……”ABBY” from VISION EXPRESS with an impressive 24/24 !!!

Many of you only got one answer wrong so instead of having two runners up we will be dropping off a nice box of chocs to those teams who scored 23/24!

And the winning team name is “Pudsey’s Balls of Steel” from Caunton Engineering !!

Macildowie also donated £100 of M&S vouchers to Boots for their Children in Need raffle. Angela can be seen delivering the vouchers to Chris at Boots. Chris's team raffle raised £2100 for a great cause.

Recruiter Sets the Bar High With Institute Membership

Leading Midlands HR and financial recruitment specialist Macildowie, has again made its mark in the recruitment market by becoming one of the first firms of its kind to name two of its staff as fellows and five as members of its industry body, the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP).

In addition, all 25 consultants at Macildowie, which was recently named 19th in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, have joined the IRP.

“Macildowie clients want to know that they are dealing with the very best professionals at all times,” explains James Taylor, a director at Macildowie.

“It’s my belief that a consultancy that seeks to provide its clients with the best people, should itself be staffed with the best people and the IRP membership supports our staff in operating to the highest standards of professionalism.”

The IRP was launched by the Recruitment and Employment Federation to provide everybody in the profession of recruitment with the opportunity to be a member of a reputable professional institute, and one that promotes best practice.

October Fantasy League Manager of the Month

Congratulations to James Hargreaves (Nottingham office winner) and David Bickley (Leicester office winner) who won the October Manager of the Month. James wins John Lewis vouchers and David a bottle of champagne.

Special note must go to Richard Bowe of Macildowie who has topped the Nottingham/Derby league table for the last 2 months and currently leads the overall league. Unfortunately the rules state that he isn't eligible to claim a prize, unlucky Richard.

Charity Abseil

6 brave Macildowie employees took part in an abseil froms the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham raising £1000 for Clic Sargent.

The event saw 74 brave people in total abseiled 85 feet down from the roof of the QMC on Sunday 12th July 2009 and is set to raise £18,000.

The abseil took place on a beautifully hot and sunny summer’s day and saw people from all over Nottingham come together to have fun while raising money for the 10 children and young people diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia every day in the UK.

James Lawson, Manager at Macildowie, stated: "It was pretty daunting when you looked over the edge, the team did a great job and most importantly it was all in aid of a very worthy cause."

Recruitment Specialist Adds Duo To Its Board

Leading Midlands financial and human resources specialist Macildowie has appointed two new directors to its board.

The company has announced that James Taylor and James Calder, previously managers at the business, have both been appointed as directors with immediate effect.

In their new roles they will each hold a special responsibility for developing and empowering staff, keeping employees focused and motivated, and for co-ordinating succession planning in the business, which currently services high profile organisations across the Midlands.

John Convery, a director at Macildowie, said: “Calder and Taylor have consistently delivered as a members of the senior management team and their appointments as directors further strengthens the strategic capacity of the company.”

Taylor, who is based at the Leicester office, has been with the business since leaving university in 1997, and has pioneered a series of successful new business initiatives in the company.

Calder, based at the Nottingham office, found his first accountancy job after leaving university using Macildowie, and upon returning to the business in search of another role - he was actually appointed as a trainee recruitment consultant.
