    The ideal candidate would be MCIPS status, with experience of preparing/implementing organisation wide procurement strategies and policies within a large public sector organisation. They would be experienced in managing large contracts, have great communication skills and a proven track-record of excelling in a leadership position.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • To determine the overall approach to procurement through the ongoing development of a procurement strategy and policy.
    • To have a strategic responsibility for all aspects of contracting and purchasing. This will include direct management of all formal tendering for significant goods and services in terms of specification, tendering award management review.
    • To provide advice and guidance in respect of contracts delegated to local budget holders.
    • To provide professional advice, guidance and support to senior managers.
    • To represent the organisation on national and regional groups.
    • To make a proactive contribution to the development of both regional and national contracts.
    • To ensure that the organisation complies with statutory and regulatory requirements. In particular providing comprehensive advice on the implications of and procedures with European Union Directives relating to procurement.
    • To establish and manage contract monitoring procedures to evaluate contract performance and to provide the basis for corrective action or variations to contract.
    • To undertake periodic internal Procurement Audits of all departments.
    • To contribute to an annual savings target of cash and non-cashable savings determined by the Finance Director.
    • To prepare and implement a training strategy for all staff involved in the procurement process.
    • To develop a range of performance indicators/targets in respect of the procurement process.

    The successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary of up to £77,000 per annum, 30 days of annual leave plus statutory holidays as well as a brilliant pension scheme.     Responsibilities:

    • Creating, implementing and managing strategy for Purchasing team and annual budget
    • Ensuring sufficient inventory to meet customer demand while making best use of current working capital
    • Improve and implement new processes where suitable
    • Manage team, providing support, direction and mentorship
    • Develop and own departmental key KPI's
    • Negotiate with key stakeholders, focusing not just on cost but overall relationship, terms and commercial aspects

    The role will be responsible for
    Assist on the production of all year-end statutory accounts, liaising with colleagues and external audit partners.

    Cash Flow reporting and monitoring - presenting your findings to senior leadership - finance and non-finance
    Act as the key point of contact for all external banking relationships.
    External returns including VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE etc
    Ensure that all financial reports are in line with both internal and external controls frameworks.
    Educating the wider finance function on controls updates and their ramifications.
    Contribute to the wider performance of the finance team, taking a lead on process and system improvement activities.
    To be considered for this role you must be ACCA/ACA Qualified.

    Excel/data manipulation skills including pivots, look ups, Ifs.
    An up to date understanding and working experience of controls frameworks is essential.

    This role will have a vital role in supporting the finance function of a small, hard-working team which is part of a larger business and support network.     This role does offer hybrid working, however the ability to be office based when required is also important.
