Psychologists tell us that our unconscious biases are simply our natural people preferences.
A preference that bypasses our normal, rational and logical thinking.
Whilst we use these processes very effectively (we call it intuition) the categories we use to sort people are not logical, modern or perhaps even legal.
Put simply, our neurology takes us to the very brink of bias and poor decision making.
Why attend the event?
Through understanding unconscious bias and how it affects our choices, we become better equipped to recruit the right people and achieve cognitive diversity across our organisations. Diverse thinking can provide a firm foundation for problem solving and organisational creativity. It understands that individual intelligence is no longer enough and advocates that true optimisation of performance lies in the power of diverse opinion, thinking and perspective.
If you are a leader of people, or work in HR or Recruitment, this incredibly enlightening workshop will help you to recognise how the assumptions we make affect recruitment processes and decisions.
Our specialist speaker - Laurence Harvey. Laurence specialises in how our Unconscious Bias affects workplace behaviours, relationships and decisions. He is highly skilled in understanding, managing and developing people’s personal knowledge of how their attitudes are influenced.
