Fancy working for an already highly successful blue collar business recently acquired by a wider group are upgrading everything from systems to the business structure?

Macildowie HR are incredibly excited to be supporting an established blue collar business with a National footprint to source a Head of HR as they enter their next phase of evolution. The role will report into the HR Director and work closely with the centre of excellence leads across Talent, L&D and Reward.

The business is currently building a brand new HR structure to support c1000 employees nationally, that you will be heading up. You will line manage 2 HR BPs and 4 HR Advisors across multiple sites. Change is happening left and right centre and they need a resilient leader who embraces change to help drive the business through this exciting but challenging time.

As the team will be newly formed, this role will initially be c60% operational and 40% strategic whilst you get the team up and running and navigate the current change programme. Following that, the figures will start to balance out and you will be leading the team on identifying and delivering new HR initiatives to transition the HR department into a more commercial arm of the organisation, whilst always having a hand in the operation.

This role is fully generalist and whilst there are various HR initiatives pushed out by head office, you have the autonomy to ensure the initiatives are fit for purpose for your business and identify further ways to add value through implementing a local people strategy and HR projects to progress this arm of the business into the best version of itself.

  • Previous experience creating and implementing local HR strategy whilst staying fully hands on and operational with day to day business needs
  • Complex ER
  • TUPE
  • Designing and restructuring business operating models to ensure the most efficient and effective department structures
  • Experience working through and supporting complex change programmes
  • Experience building a progressive HR function and implementing a true business partnering approach
