Job Description

An opportunity to join a well established retail business during an exciting period of change. The Reporting & Forecasting team provides a key link between the various business partnering and FP&A teams across the business to create budgets, forecasts and strategic plans as well as delivering corporate performance reporting e.g. weekly trading packs, periodic management accounts and investor relations analysis.

-Lead the accounting process to drive and execute standard period-end transactions and journals in the core finance system, working together with the business to drive completion of accurate and representative financial statements, for review by the Reporting and Forecasting Controller and senior management
-Drive and lead the development of standardised reporting & insight for Business Partnering teams to support clear business decisions to either drive action / improved business performance in collaboration with the business. This includes communication and explanation of period-end results to the agreed deadlines and standards to senior management and the production of agreed standardised reporting to Business Partnering teams across weekly and period reporting timelines.
-Drive the implementation of Finance improvement initiatives as well as leading the move to best practices to enhance process efficiency and quality of outputs including data quality improvements. Elimination, simplification and/or automation of transactional activities and reporting improvements.
-Lead and Support external audit preparation
-Drive and own the financial control process to ensure results are reported in a timely and accurate manner and drive / implement and corrective actions
-Responsible for managing relationships with relevant internal and external (third party) stakeholders
-Share relevant tools and lessons learnt with Finance & Non-Finance stakeholders

As the ideal candidate for this role you will hold a relevant accountancy qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA and posses a strong technical accounting experience, possibly gained through working in audit and have experience of coaching and developing a high calibre team. Strong analytical skills, Excel & Access skills and attention to detail are a must to succeed in this role, as is experience of working with and presenting analytical results to Non-Finance users. You will need to be a confident individual who has the ability to operate and influence effectively at a senior finance level and be able to demonstrate a track record of driving through change.
