Buyer | SME | Alfreton | £27,000 - £35,000
Are you an experienced buyer? Are you finding your current role mundane, or not challenging enough? Have you wanted to take the step up to a senior buyer's role, where you've got a bit more responsibility for the direction of the procurement department? If the answer to all of the above was 'Yes', keep reading.
We're working with an SME in Alfreton who are looking to bolster their purchasing department with an experienced buyer, who can work closely with the purchasing manager, to help lead the procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to step up, lead from the front and have a real impact on a business.
You will be joining an experienced procurement manager, but a relatively junior purchasing team. It's therefore essential that you're comfortable holding your own and can lead from the front, mentoring and helping other members of the team. This role is that perfect step up before becoming a Senior Buyer, where you've got more input on the direction of procurement, but won't have the same weight of responsibility. On a day to day basis the role will look something like this:
Working with the supply base to source parts at the most commercially competitive prices, this will involve sourcing suppliers, negotiating prices and then managing supplier performance
Pro-actively monitor spend, identifying potential cost saving opportunities within the supply chain
Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers to ensure transparency
Place orders with suppliers, ordering parts, consumables and plant for projects
Check and approve purchase orders
Deal with and resolve invoice queries
Maintain the information on inventory and ensure the accuracy of the stock system
For this to be the right role for you, we need you to have a few years purchasing experience, three to four years ideally and ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment (that's not essential however). You need to be able to lead others and to do that you need to be comfortable that you could walk into a new role and deliver straight away.
A CIPS qualification would be a bonus, level 3 + ideally, but again, don't be put off if you've not had the opportunity to do it yet, our client is willing to support this.
We need someone who is keen to learn and grow, someone who's confident and ambitious, someone who's ready to contribute to a team environment and collaborative success.
We really want someone who is entrepreneurial, keen to try and learn new things and has a commitment to being the best version of themselves. If that's you, then get in touch!
£27,000 - £35,000 Starting Salary DOE
Paid for CIPS training
Extensive personal development opportunities
Great working environment
If this sounds like a bit of you, then please get in touch, email me your CV and salary expectations or give me a call on 0115 947 0200. Let's start the conversation and let's see if we can find you your dream move. I'm looking forward to speaking to you.
