As a buyer your role will be to work alongside the procurement team managing costs, sourcing products and developing the supplier base.
About the Role
This role as buyer will require you to take a flexible approach to procurement by working both the operational and strategic side. The general role will see you creating bids, raising purchase orders, processing invoices and working in a fast paced high volume commodity based environment.
As a Buyer/ Supply Chain Specialist you will not be allocated specific projects or sites but work for all projects across the organisation. You will be there to build the bridge between Buyers and Lead buyers cascading down and escalating to both sides.
You, as a Buyer will establish part of material bids, implement sourcing strategies, and manage supplier's commercial relationships and place orders with suppliers.
Skills and tasks associated
>Contribute to the identification of material requirements, estimation of allowable costs, provision of material costs, issuing RFQ's to suppliers, create specific contractual packages, assess opportunities and risks in the supply and sign-off a final Bill of Material's.
>Develop, keep track and stick to the Sourcing Plan
be responsible for the Supplier Evaluation Approval Process (SEAP)
>Manage purchase contracts for the commodity in scope
>Help in the development of Strategic Sourcing strategies
develop an annual plan for commodity sourcing activities
>Actively take part in commodity networks by providing input to Strategic Sourcing
>Support buyers in managing contracts
>Help to manage the commercial relationship with suppliers
>Ensure suppliers are competitive and enabling the business to gain competitive advantages
>Develop long term supplier relationships through regular performance reviews
>Demonstrate knowledge of specific purchasing tools such as; LCCS, CI, Open Book Costing, >Value Engineering, Value Stream Mapping.
>Establish RFQ's including commercial and technical requirements, evaluate and select suppliers offers, place orders and control file transfers
>Manage material cost reduction activities
Relevant experience in a previous role, within manufacturing
University degree or equivalent through experience, complemented by a demonstrated track record of success.
Sourcing and procurement planning
Excellent contracting, legal & compliance knowledge
Excellent negotiating / influencing skills
Supplier performance and improvement management experience
