This is a crucial position within a leading and ever growing market leader. The successful Category Manager will work closely with the Category Director to define and execute the strategic direction and success of the category.
Key accountabilities (not limited too):
Develop and deliver successful product strategy; sourcing, brand proposition, supplier selection, pricing, trading margin and route to market
Influence the commercial team and drive high performance through leading by example and encouraging others
Improve profitability of the category
help maximise the leverage of group & divisional buying activities including direct sourcing, common sourcing synergies
Support the MD and commercial director to drive innovation and to be the first to market with new products
Work closely with Marketing and SC to ensure delivery to the end customer and to reduce stock holding whilst improving delivery
Keeping up to date with market trends, customers and new products etc.
Key experience / skills required (among others):
Experience within a similar role at a similar level
A strong blend of product management and buying experience within the retail/trade arena
Strategic category management
Proven margin and profit improvement
Self motivated, confident and enthusiastic
Must possess strong numerical and analytical ability across Excel
