As a Category Manager you will be responsible for categories related to the assigned clients, owning the trading performance against budget to achieve revenue and profit targets. The role is responsible for defining Category Strategy (product / service portfolio, pricing strategy, promotions, etc.) and proactively managing performance.
Accountable for optimising categories to drive RPH: Revenue per Head
Analyse trading performance to proactively propose initiatives to support budgets
Responsible for briefing procurement on product/service requirements
Defining and Implementing price and promotion strategies per shop
Forecasting sales for new products, promotions and campaigns
Briefing Procurement on supplier tenders process
Analyse market trends and competition in the market using BI data and provide recommendations for category development
New supplier sourcing to provide innovation and category development
Work collaboratively with other teams to provide marketing insight and aid improvement strategies
Increase in revenue by driving promotions
Reduce costs by understanding supplier costs and negotiating on rates
Increase in profitability
Succession planning for managing all business functions in any team absence
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Educated to degree level
Relevant experience in a category management or product trading role within retail
Proven track record in buying, merchandising or category management gained from working for a large retail business; ideally across multiple categories
