Category Manager / Senior Buyer (Manufacturing)

Salary dependant upon experience
The successful Category Manager / Senior Buyer will be responsible for the sourcing a range of components from a world-wide supply base. Key responsibilities include sourcing new suppliers/technologies, negotiating contracts/pricing to taking into account economic conditions and working closely with engineering in order to maximise return on application.
The Purchasing Team within this global recognised manufacturing business play an instrumental role in ensuring the quality and profitability of the end product and are at the centre of our everyday business activities.
An ideal candidate for this role will possess the following;
A relevant business studies, supply chain, procurement or engineering related qualification would be preferable.
Experience within an engineering/manufacturing business in a procurement capacity
Breadth of purchasing skills and knowledge within a manufacturing environment (electrical commodity knowledge would be beneficial)
Global sourcing experience
Proven tack record of successful supplier negotiations
Strong numerical, verbal and written skills and experience of concise and accurate report writing.
Good communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with Design and Manufacturing colleagues in addition to external suppliers and other Buyers
Good negotiation, project management and problem solving skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
The ability to apply logical reasoning to situations and strong organisation skills.
The flexibility to travel worldwide for supplier visits
