Pinders are the UK's leading firm of specialist business valuers and consultants, focusing particularly on the licensed/leisure, healthcare, white coat and retail business sectors. As well offering comprehensive appraisal and valuation reports for which Pinders is best known, they also have divisions dealing with all aspects of consultancy, dispute resolution and building services.

They are currently seeking experienced, qualified surveyors located in the North, Midlands and South West regions in order to expand and strengthen our network of home-based surveyors. However, candidates with the relevant experience, outside of these regions, will also be considered.

Whilst experience within any or all of the sectors which we cover is advantageous, applications will be equally welcome from candidates with well-rounded commercial valuation/general practice experience, an investigative mind and the desire to undertake varied and challenging work.

Remuneration Package

This will be derived from a basic salary and a commission element, which is linked to the fee income that the valuer invoices. The intention of such a salary structure is simply to reward not only the quality of work undertaken but also the level of productivity, which is a reflection of efficiency and commitment. It is anticipated that this arrangement would result in an equivalent annual salary of between £35,000 and £50,000.

Either a company car will be provided or the valuer will receive a car allowance.

Valuer Role

The role is that of a Business Appraiser and Valuer based from the valuer's home. Whilst, typically, most jobs will be within 90 minutes of the valuers' location, they will be required to travel further afield from time to time.

The valuer will be involved in the appraisal and valuation of a broad cross-section of specialist businesses and business premises, within the healthcare, licensed/leisure, white coat and retail sectors. The focus will mainly be on producing Appraisal and Valuation Reports, which typically run from 30 to 40 pages, although they may prove to be lengthier, for complex businesses or if alterations or extensions are proposed to the premises being valued.

Whilst appointments and programming of instructions would be dealt with via Pinder House, the valuer will be expected to prepare reports in accordance with our standard templates. Detailed computerised appraisal and valuation models also need to be completed in each case. The valuer will, therefore, need to be familiar with using the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.

The valuer will be given training, enabling them to familiarise themselves with our systems, procedures, report formats, appraisal techniques, sector knowledge etc during their first four weeks or so with the company.

Training will mainly be carried out at our Head Office and this may, on occasions, necessitate overnight stays in or around Milton Keynes. There will, however, also be a practical element to the training. Once 'out on the road, there will still be ongoing support and backup, and the valuer will be expected to participate in further training as well as regional and national valuers meetings from time to time.

As well as undertaking appraisal and valuation work, the valuer would be expected to take a proactive role in business development and client liaison, albeit report production will be the valuers main responsibility.
