Macildowie Marketing are seeking a Technical Author to join a fantastic company in Nottingham who have recently rebranded and launched a number of exciting and creative software products.
You will ideally be able to demonstrate experience of writing engaging content and have some experience of writing online help for software products and creating printed and electronic publications for end user documentation. A good working knowledge of HTML5 would also be very helpful in this role.
-You will be responsible for writing online help materials and creating and/or arranging creation of screenshots and illustrations for the help system. You will ensure all product features are covered and ensure sufficient content to allow novice users to effectively use the software.
-Writing content for the workbook/user guide will be important and you will assist with content development for printed and electronic workbooks to project deadlines including proof reading and correcting workbook copy.
-The Technical Author will be required to write articles for editorials and the web. This will involve editing screencasts/videos to fit article content and creating and/or arrange creation of screenshots and illustrations.
-You will also provide feedback on software usability and escalate issues about usability to software development and check consistency of terminology used in software etc.
This role would suit candidates who are proactive and capable of working autonomously and owning projects. You will have an amazing eye for detail and an ability to easily explain complex concepts to a range of people with varying technical abilities. Excellent writing skills will obviously be essential but you must be technically minded.
