Buyer |Derby | £25,000 - £30,000
Every now and again, a client contacts us to say that they are going to restructure a department and therefore there's a new and exciting position for someone to come into the business and make a name for themselves. That's what this is!
You will come in as a buyer, working with the procurement manager to help free up their time for more strategic objectives, whilst managing the day to day operational procurement and providing a steer to the procurement administrators working in the department. You couldn't ask for an engineering firm with a richer heritage than this, so if you're interested in finding out more, get in touch today.
The goal of the re-structure is to enable the procurement manager to have more time for long-term strategic projects within procurement. Your role within the business therefore will be to look after the operational procurement on a day to day basis and help out with strategic projects when required. You'll have the best of both worlds:
Procure products and spares for the business in order to meet set timescales
Source spares via engineering drawings/designs following obsolesce or design changes
Prepare, carry out and successfully finalise supplier negotiations
Work closely with suppliers, subcontractors & services providers to reduce total acquisition cost
Carry out supplier audits and work with quality control to maintain all levels required for ISO
For this person, we're looking for a buyer, ideally a buyer who's worked within an engineering buying environment that means you'll have dealt with commodities like aluminium, steel, fixings, fastenings, etc. and be comfortable buying from engineering drawings and designs.
A CIPS background would be ideal, but not essential. Overall, what we're looking for is the desire to build something bigger and be a part of an exciting change.
Why this opportunity?
This is a fantastic opportunity for a buyer who is looking to step up and take on more responsibility within a business to really demonstrate their capability. You'll be working closely enough with the procurement manager that you'll be able to learn and develop but have the autonomy and freedom to make changes.
