Assistant Accountant | £35,000 - £40,000 | Stoke-on-Trent | Office based with flexibility

With 40 years under their belt, our client is an established and well-regarded supplier in their industry, currently looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. They specialise in delivering innovative solutions, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of communities across the UK. Current turnover sits around £11m across the group.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant who values stability and is confident working both alone and collaboratively. You will provide crucial support to the Group Finance Director and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with various financial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record and process financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Accurately record and update customer transactions in the sales ledger, ensuring all invoices, receipts, and payments are properly documented.
  • Process supplier invoices promptly, verifying accuracy and adherence to contractual terms and pricing agreements.
  • Reconcile supplier statements with purchase ledger records to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
  • Reconcile bank statements, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process invoices, ensuring they are accurate and properly coded.
  • Process employee expenses, verifying receipts and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist in various financial projects and tasks as assigned by the Group Finance Director.

What are you like?

  • Either Part-Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
