Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: Towcester

Salary: £28,000 to £38,000 (Dependent on Experience)

Type: Permanent - Office Based - Flexible Working Hours Available

Key to this role is that they are looking for someone who has a range of experience across credit control, sales ledger, purchase ledger and payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Record and manage financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payments, and receipts, in a well-organised and effective manner.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with financial records to ensure precision and identify any discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices and prompt handling of payments.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Keep the general ledger up-to-date by posting journal entries, updating accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
  • VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns in adherence to HMRC regulations.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate regular financial reports, such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets, to gain insights into the company's financial well-being.
  • Expense Management: Supervise and regulate company expenses, validate expense reports, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Record Retention: Organise and securely maintain financial records, following company policies and legal requirements.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software packages like Sage, Xero, or Quickbooks to efficiently manage financial data.
  • Financial Analysis: Assist in analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping or an AAT qualification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with accounting software packages such as Sage, Xero, or Quickbooks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
  • A proactive and motivated individual who is happy to work both independently and as a team
