Macildowie are proud to be working in partnership with Browne Jacobson to recruit a high calibre Management Accountant in their Nottingham Head Office. The role will be working closely with the Financial Controller to ensure the integrity of financial information, as well as taking responsibility for the firm's central team finances.

The business has a long standing in the East Midlands, being founded in 1832. They are now a national law firm with offices in Birmingham, Exeter, London, Manchester and Nottingham. They offer services across a number of key sectors: public, health, insurance, brands, retail, technology, education, financial services and international.

The firm has over 820 employees, with over 440 lawyers of which 125 are partners. The firm works with regional, national and international clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors. In the Nottingham head office alone, there are 600 staff housed in modern offices. In the 2015-2016 financial year, they recorded a record turnover of over £64 million.

The company operate with the strap line of "law, less ordinary" They have a culture that is a far cry from what you would expect in a law firm of this size and scale. The offices are open plan, there is no obvious hierarchy across the floor and they work in a way that is synonymous with the modern workplace.

This has resulted in growth of over 60% in the last five years, without merger, consistently outperforming against the compound annual growth rate of 6.3% in the legal sector between 2010 and 2013.

The Management Accountant role will be working with the Financial Controller to ensure the integrity of financial information and the nominal ledger, as well as taking responsibility for the firm's central finances including budget and forecasts.

You will be preparing the firm's weekly cash flow forecasts, reviewing the firm's payroll alongside the Payroll Manager, producing monthly management accounts for the bank and quarterly covenant reporting as well as undertaking the completion of the quarterly VAT returns, the quarterly EC Sales listing the National Statistics returns and other statutory returns as required.

In short, you will be a critical person in the operations of the business, ensuring that central costs are controlled and reporting is delivered on time.

You will be working closely with senior stakeholders to support and also challenge their budgets and as such, you will need to be robust in your nature on occasion. As you would expect, you are working in an environment with highly intelligent staff and expectations on your ability are high.

It's a sociable environment at the same time, so you will undoubtedly be a people person. Someone who enjoys interacting with people and someone who can influence at a senior level.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need to have strong Excel skills and have the mental agility to react quickly to requests for information and analysis. You will work well under pressure, meet testing deadlines and have good attention to detail.
