Macildowie are delighted to be recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a well-established, international design and manufacturing company based in Nottingham. The successful candidate will have great leadership skills and be confident driving the production team to complete works orders efficiently and on time. We are looking for someone who is hands-on and is not afraid to get stuck in themselves!
This a full time role to start ASAP! Experience in a similar position is essential.
Role and Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership on the factory floor, to coordinate and manage the operational flow.
Drive health and safety culture to improve the housekeeping and safety performance.
Liaise with the Production Planner to produce works orders in line with customer requirements and production capacity. This includes sales and operational planning to ensure our resources match the customer demand.
Distribute works orders to relevant operators on the shop floor along with any instructions relevant to the works order.
Constantly check progress of works orders throughout the factory and feedback to the production planner.
To communicate and liaise with all other parts of the business on the OTIF so that customers are informed of their delivery dates.
Measure the KPI's for OTIF/RFT/NCR's so that operational efficiencies are delivered.
To manage the procurement of suppliers to ensure that the best value is delivered.
Present Capex proposals to enhance the operational efficiencies to improve our product development and brand reputation.
Have efficient stock control so that just in time deliveries offer a better stock level.
Be a constant presence on the shop floor and deal with any issues you either come across or a brought to your attention. Work with relevant members of the management team to resolve those issues.
Be pro-active in working to improve factory layout, workflows, methods and procedures throughout the factory.
Be pro-actively involved in training, coaching and development of staff under your management.
Be proactively involved in control of production head count and skill levels, which will include a labour training matrix to allow our team to be flexible in our resource allocation.
Clear communication with relevant team members
Reporting progress to management team at regular intervals
Being a competent user of the Javelin MRP system
Metal/Fabrication experience essential
