Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Macildowie are currently looking for a Patent Administrator working for a business based in Loughborough. Working closely with the Technical Patent Manager, the Patent Administrator will support an efficient and growing patent portfolio.

This is a temporary full time role for 3-6 months whilst they recruit for a permanent member.

THE ROLE & YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Using a task management system to record and monitor deadlines and working closely with the Technical Patent Manager to ensure that deadlines are appropriately prioritised and met.
Monitoring correspondence and filing in the live link system
Record data and correspondence relating to inventions, inventor remuneration, patent applications, patents and cases of conflict (e.g. oppositions).
Ensuring the payment of patent-related invoices and supporting management of expenditures in view of the annual budget.
Preparing monthly summaries of patent decisions which need to be discussed at various sector meetings in subsequent months;
Preparing monthly reports of recent activities (e.g. invention development, patent applications filed, etc.);
Monitoring invention disclosures and providing summaries to Technical Patent Manager and Shared R&D Services Manager to ensure that invention disclosures are promptly reacted to and progressed;
Provide portfolio data to support the presentations given by the Shared R&D Service Manager;
Assist in budgeting and maintaining cost control though early attention of matters.
Liaising with inventors, company executives and agents to obtain signed documents required for patent application (e.g. Power of Attorneys, Assignments, etc.).

EXPERIENCE SOUGHT IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

This role would suit a PA, Legal Secretary or a Senior Administrator with excellent attention to details and organisational skills. This role is very admin heavy and can be quite repetitive. You must be confident on Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint to be considered.
