Senior Buyer / Category Manager
This is an opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join a Civil Engineering company in Nottinghamshire. As senior buyer you will be focussing on your ability to manage the Sub-Contract spend within the company. To be successful in your application you will need to have a strategic purchasing background with experience in or an exposure to Category Management and Civil Engineering. A car is also on offer with this package, 27 Days holiday + 12 additional days (including the BH), as this business really values its people and want to offer a great working environment for its staff.
This business is also born out of a continuous professional development culture and you will have regular 121s and training with your line manager, the wider team and internal and external training providers.
You will also be responsible for selecting, agreeing and managing a range of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers mainly from the Heavy Construction Plant industry. You will develop relationships with these suppliers to deliver value and benefits to the business, the client and supply partners. Whether the supplier is providing parts, equipment or labour, you will need to ensure that they deliver a performance standard that creates competitive advantage.
Developing, implementing and deliver the required Category Management activities for Project operations
Applying effective procurement practices to result in achieving improved terms with suppliers, adoption of a preferred supplier structure and on time supply to demand
Support business development activities and ensure that all supply chain risks are bounded at the point of contract and passed appropriately through the supply chain
Liaise regularly and collaborate with appropriate members of the Procurement functions to optimise leverage opportunities
Champion the Procurement process with business stakeholders
Complete periodic supplier reviews to mitigate risk, drive costs down and achieve efficiencies from smart buying principles
Reduce the overall risk of supply into the business by ensuring all appropriate monitoring, analysis, control, contracting and governance activities are enacted
Oversee and managed and additional external plant hire contracts that may be required to ensure the clients operational needs are met and saving / efficiency targets are met within this category
Civil Engineering experience
Category Management skills
Sub Contract Management
Strong strategic sourcing and stakeholder management skills
Degree or CIPS is desirable but not essential
