Senior Group Accountant Nottingham - £55,000
Do you love the technical aspects of accounting? Are you a bit of a guru when it comes to reporting standards and group consolidation? If so, I have the perfect finance job in Nottingham. I'm recruiting for a Senior Group Accountant for a key client who are building a new Finance support function in Nottingham.
This is a really good chance to stamp your mark on a newly created position as they go through their post acquisition integration.
So what is the job?
Firstly, you'll report into the Head of the Group statutory reporting team with overall responsibility for all internal consolidated statutory reporting including the Group P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow.
The statutory reporting team will also assist divisional finance teams in ensuring Group policies have been adopted appropriately, assessing appropriate accounting treatments and supporting the Head of Statutory Reporting in the assessment of the quality of the divisional Balance Sheet control.
Your key responsibilities will be the delivery of the Group consolidation of a £2.5bn turnover business with businesses across 8 different countries on a monthly and ad hoc basis, including providing detailed analysis of variances and absolute balances. You will design and implement the new combined Group consolidation process rather than the two independent consolidations which are operated today.
You will also get a chance to manage the delivery of quarterly consolidated reforecast/plan balance sheet and cash flow models including implementation of balance sheet forecasting in divisions.
Given that this is a new business structure, you will also take on the Implementation of a new Group reporting framework that will see Group reporting packs delivered by divisional finance teams. Because of this you will operate as the Driving force behind the development and maintenance of a robust cash reporting model and forecasting tool (as Manager of the Group cash accountant).
You will manage the Statutory Reporting team and the accuracy of their outputs, providing support, guidance and training where necessary.
In short, this isn't a boring, status quo type of business. It's a role that NEEDS your input, a role where you can use your technical expertise to have a tangible impact on your areas of responsibility without just sitting in the previous incumbents shoes.
Who are you?
You will be a qualified accountant with deep technical accounting knowledge across FRS101/ FRS 102 or IFRS. You will be someone who might be sitting at a Senior level in practice, or someone that has already worked in a group reporting function in another major plc.
Importantly though, you will be someone who has the capacity to drive change, embed new process and design new reporting frameworks. That ability will rely on you influencing senior stakeholders and getting the buy in of those around you.
What's in it for you?
A chance to be part of the exciting journey that this business is currently on. You will add significant experience to your professional skillset and you will get a chance to drive and embed change. Who doesn't want a role where growth is almost a given?
