Job Description

Macildowie is pleased to be recruiting for a Vendor Management Buyer to join a busy purchasing team based in Nottingham. This key post within the Purchasing Department, which reports directly to the Senior Buyer, will take responsibility for the following:

Managing supplier OTIF by reviewing and implementing improvement plans, negotiating service level agreements and monitoring performance. Actively review the supply base to maintain and improve reliability and efficiency in line with strategic goals.
Deliver cost reduction initiatives, delivering sustainable gross margin improvements through negotiation and resourcing of product through global sourcing
Source new suppliers ensuring conformance to quality standards and expectations. Manage annual cost price negotiations with existing suppliers to reduce impact of increases on the overall margin of the business
Constantly look for continuous improvement opportunities in line with supply chain best practice, focusing heavily on improving customer satisfaction
Negotiate contracts and tenders within a project management atmosphere
Continuous review of products, working with suppliers to re-engineer delivering improved designs and costs
Represent external supply in weekly inter-departmental meetings and produce supplier visit reports as required.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role you must be able to display the following:

A good standard of education (minimum A level or equivalent). Candidates who hold or are working towards a relevant professional qualification will have a distinct advantage.
A high degree of IT literacy competent user of Microsoft Office
Previous experience of working with a busy Purchasing role, preferably gained within an FMCG or retail environment, including knowledge of purchase ordering procedures and experience of successfully managing multiple accounts (domestic and international).
Previous experience within the mail order industry is desirable but not essential.
Excellent organisational skills able to work under own initiative to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver against deadlines
Strong financial and commercial awareness
Professional, confident and friendly in manner
