Audit Manager - Finance, Treasury and Credit

The Role: Macildowie are delighted to be supporting The Nottingham Building Society to recruit an Audit Manager for Finance, Treasury and Credit. If you have a strong background in audit, and want to work for a business where you are treated as an individual, maintaining a work life balance this could be a fantastic role for you. This role will be appealing to individuals with excellent audit acumen and experience who are looking for a site based role as there will be very limited travel in this position except for the occasional local trip to sites which could be c1-2 times per month. The focus of this role and team is to ensure the society protects the assets, reputation and sustainability of the society. You will take responsibility for the execution of allocated areas of a risk based Internal Audit Plan, and in doing so, to provide assurance over the effectiveness of the Society's governance, risk management and control frameworks to business stakeholders, and for reporting (via the Head of Internal Audit) to the Board Audit Committee. Key Responsibilities: To deliver allocated areas of the Internal Audit Plan, taking responsibility in each case for: The performance of independent risk assessments in the area under review, with a view to informing audit scope The preparation of draft audit terms of reference Execution of the agreed audit scope and terms of reference in line with Internal Audit Policy The agreement of audit findings and recommendations with management The preparation of a draft Internal Audit report summarising audit findings and recommendations The finalisation of audit reports following receipt of formal management responses Maintaining stakeholder relations throughout the above process. To work with the Society's co-source internal audit provider to ensure that co-sourced reviews are effectively and efficiently delivered and that knowledge is transferred from the co-source provider to the in-house team in an adequate and timely manner. To track management progress in addressing agreed internal audit recommendations and to validate completion at an appropriate time. To maintain awareness of best practice and emerging risks in relevant areas of the Society's governance, risk management and control framework, emerging regulatory requirements and common industry issues, with a view to recommending strategies for improvement where appropriate and ensuring that the Internal Audit Plan addresses emerging risks on a timely basis. To maintain effective dialogue with key business stakeholders on a year round basis, including working with the second line of defence to maximise co-ordination of second and third line of defence assurance activities and ensure that, to the greatest extent possible, assurance activities are aligned. Experience sought in the successful candidate: We are looking for someone with a strong academic record who is fully qualified in a recognised accounting qualification. Working knowledge of the Financial Services sector would also be a distinct advantage. You will also have the ability and gravitas to liaise with stakeholders at all levels within a business influencing and challenge where required.
