This is a project-focused role, not a business-as-usual replacement, and will play a critical part in ensuring complex payroll and statutory calculations are delivered accurately, compliantly, and on time during a high-volume period.

Initial onboarding will be on-site, moving to a hybrid model (approximately 3 days on-site / 2 remote).

  • Support payroll processing to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Take the lead on payroll activity relating to a large-scale redundancy programme, including:
    • Statutory and contractual redundancy calculations
    • Severance payments
    • Tax treatment and legislative compliance
  • Provide additional support to the Payroll Coordinator as required.
  • Manage intercompany payroll recharges, ensuring accurate cost allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation, pension schemes, and statutory deductions.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to Finance and HR.
  • Respond to employee queries relating to pay, deductions, and benefits with professionalism and discretion.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and alignment.
  • Ensure eligible employees are enrolled in the company pension scheme.
  • Produce and collate payroll data for monthly, annual, and insurance-related reporting.
  • Provide payroll data for Life Insurance, Private Health Insurance, and P11Ds.
  • Support ad-hoc reporting, including Gender Pay Gap, overtime, and man-hours reporting.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience managing payroll during redundancy programmes.
  • Strong experience with intercompany recharges and cost allocation.
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems, specifically ADP - desirable not essential.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data.
  • Highly organised with excellent time-management skills.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
