Job Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Syston, Leicestershire (LE7)
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Reports to: Divisional Financial Controller / Business Partner
Travel: Minimal

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our finance operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience who is ready to step into a dynamic role with exposure across the full billing, P2P, and month-end reporting cycle. Ideal for a candidate looking to grow into FP&A or management accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Billing (Revenue):

  • Prepare monthly billing files, including manual compilations.
  • Validate billing data against operational reports.
  • Maintain accurate customer, pricing, contract, and service records.
  • Resolve discrepancies and support billing automation.

Expenditure (Accounts Payable & P2P):

  • Process and code supplier invoices.
  • Manage the P2P process end-to-end - from PO creation to receipting.
  • Run weekly supplier payments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and maintain master data.

Petty Cash:

  • Oversee online petty cash submissions and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain coding accuracy and audit trails.

Banking & Reconciliations:

  • Complete daily bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate unmatched transactions and anomalies.
  • Support accurate posting across revenue, expenditure, and balance sheet accounts.

Month-End & Financial Reporting:

  • Assist with deferred revenue, accruals, and cost adjustments.
  • Reconcile financial and operational systems.
  • Contribute to audit readiness and control improvements.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Act as a key point of contact across finance and operational teams.
  • Provide accurate data to support monthly management accounts.
  • Support financial analysis and performance reporting.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience and studying towards ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience in billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, or P2P.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and reconciliation ability.
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and large data sets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience contributing to process or systems improvements.
  • Exposure to a multi-site or service-based organisation.
