Accounts Assistant | North Leicester | £26,000 | Hybrid Working | 12 Month FTC
We’re partnering with a global specialist insurance business to recruit an Accounts Assistant into their Finance Operations team on a 12-month maternity cover contract, with the opportunity to become permanent.
This is a hands-on, cash-focused role within the Surety division, supporting the financial administration behind bonds, guarantees and claims. Day-to-day, you’ll be managing bank accounts, allocating cash, reconciling balances, and processing time-sensitive payments — ensuring money moves accurately and efficiently through the business.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys transactional finance but also wants to understand the bigger picture of how finance supports operations and risk. They’re keen to hire someone curious, proactive and motivated to learn and grow, not just process transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily cashiering and bank reconciliations
- Allocating and clearing incoming cash
- Processing outbound and claims payments within SLAs
- Investigating discrepancies and reducing unallocated balances
- Supporting month-end and balance sheet reconciliations
- Resolving queries across finance, claims and operations teams
About You
- Experience in cashiering or transactional finance
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting
- Confident with reconciliations and high-volume processing
- Detail-focused and organised
- Curious, commercially aware and keen to understand the “why” behind processes
- Eager to develop and grow within a wider finance function
