Payroll & Accounts Administrator
Salary: up to £31,000 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Payroll & Accounts Administrator to join a busy Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and delivering a high-quality payroll service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time while supporting wider accounts administration activities. You will play a key role in maintaining payroll records, safeguarding sensitive employee data, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Prepare detailed payroll reports for management, finance, and audit purposes.
- Generate statutory payroll reports for HMRC and pension providers.
- Conduct monthly payroll audits and support year-end payroll activities, including P60 and P11D reporting.
- Validate timesheets, overtime payments, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, GDPR, and data protection requirements.
- Maintain and administer payroll and workforce management systems.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to managers on payroll processes and system usage.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers.
- Support wider accounts administration duties as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in payroll administration.
- A strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience using payroll and HR systems (experience with People XD or similar systems would be advantageous).
- The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous bookkeeping or accounts experience.
