Job Description

Macildowie are seeking a dynamic and talented Business Development Manager to join a well-established business, based in the East Midlands with offices in Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby. Reporting to the Business Development Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to drive growth through strategic business development activities. While prior experience in professional services is beneficial, it is not mandatory.

£45,000 - £55,000 DOE | Monday - Friday | Hybrid | 9am-5pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify growth opportunities and generate new business leads.
  • Build and nurture a robust network to support regional and national growth.
  • Establish strong relationships with both new and existing intermediaries.
  • Develop additional work opportunities from existing business relationships.
  • Identify appropriate forums for client engagement.
  • Coach, mentor, and support key stakeholders within the organisation.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Role & Duties:

  • Develop initiatives to increase new business opportunities.
  • Research and identify target clients within various sectors.
  • Prospect for potential new clients and convert leads into business.
  • Identify and advise key stakeholders on new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate to understand client needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Monitor and manage sales information, including conversion rates, targets, and pipeline.
  • Build strong and supportive relationships with key clients.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to present new products and services.
  • Implement business development aspects of the departmental strategy.
  • Attend networking events and provide market trend feedback.
  • Assist in preparing pitches and proposals.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of the UK Corporate, Mid-Market, and SME business environments.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, ideally within professional services.
  • Experience working with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in project management and pipeline development.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex sales and long selling cycles.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and achieving targets.
  • Commercial acumen with an eye for profitable opportunities.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to drive sales and manage teams.
  • Effective communication, persuasion, and innovation.
  • Confident, resilient, and determined.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of motivating both up and down the organisation.
