Energy Performance / BI Analyst - Up to £45,000 - Leicester

Macildowie Data Analytics has partnered with a growing energy supplier to recruit a Energy Performance / BI Analyst.

You will play a pivotal role in streamlining our client's workflow which would include writing SQL queries and extracting data from a SQL database as well as building visually appealing and user-friendly reports through PowerBI.

Main Responsibilities

• Analyse data to inform strategic decisions, uncover trends, and optimise performance across Billing, Metering and Settlements.
• Develop, maintain, and distribute critical operational reports collaborating with senior management and key stakeholders.
• Extract data from core systems including SQL and establish a robust data warehouse for ongoing reporting. Your data expertise will be instrumental in ensuring data availability and accuracy.
• Responsively address business and project inquiries by providing data-driven insights, enabling our client's energy business to make informed decisions based on rigorous analysis.
• Create insights that pinpoint and prioritise key areas for the business, ensuring our focus aligns with industry trends and emerging opportunities.
• Scrutinise data quality, rectify discrepancies, and proactively identify and address dataset issues to guarantee precision in our analysis.
• Conduct thorough gap analyses within datasets and collaborate with the business to implement solutions, fostering continuous improvement.
• Playing a crucial role in the preparation and monitoring of weekly/monthly metrics required for regulatory reporting using PowerBI.

The Candidate

• Operated in a similar position within Data Analytics working on behalf of an energy suppler, working with data sets such as smart meter readings.
• Experience using SQL to interrogate datasets and to derive insights.
• Demonstrated expertise in data manipulation techniques, including data cleaning, transformation, and aggregation.
• Proficient user of data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Excel to effectively communicate insights, trends, and findings.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, approaching data challenges with analytical thinking and innovative solutions.
• Experience within the energy sector - Desirable.
• Exposure to Amazon QuickSight - Desirable.
