Job Description

Audit and Accounts Senior - Education Sector

Representing a fantastic national practice who are looking to find a talented Audit and Accounts Senior who has an interest in the education sector to join their team. You would be working within a friendly, vibrant and dynamic business who genuinely look after their people and have an industry leading reputation for talent retention and personal growth.

This varied role will include overseeing and undertaking a mixture of audit and accounts work, both in the office and at client premises, giving the successful candidate a wide range of experience across both disciplines.

In additional to some general audit work, a large part of the role will focus on the education sector. This will combine the external audit, internal scrutiny and other sector specific requirements of Academy Trust and Multi Academy Trust clients.

Responsibilities:

Audit:

  • Lead audits, ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Supervise and mentor team members

Accounts:

  • Preparing accounts for supervisor/manager's review and approval to include:
  • Producing lead schedules to agree to accounts disclosures
  • Producing and reconciliation of the control accounts
  • Collating appropriate evidence to support figures in the accounts
  • Preparing sole trader/company tax computations
  • Raising relevant and coherent queries to assist with supervisor/manager review

Academies:

  • Work with Single Academy Trusts and Multi Academy Trusts
  • Handle annual statutory audits
  • Perform internal scrutiny audits
  • Support other academy-related tasks

Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification
  • Three years of UK accountancy practice experience
  • Knowledge of FRS 102
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounts software
  • Strong time management and teamwork skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
