Financial Accountant | Alfreton | £45,000 - £55,000 | Hybrid working (3 days in office)

Macildowie are currently supporting a local employer of choice. The business is made up of 2 companies - both recognisable brands with great quality and reputation. This role will be responsible for the Financial Control and Governance of the business. The key elements of the role include financial reporting, annual accounts preparation, audit, tax and ensuring overall compliance with global accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller this role is considered a proactive and progressive role for an ambitious and self-motivated individual that can demonstrate high levels of performance. There is already a defined career development path - with clearly mapped progression route to Finance Manager/Controller in the future.

What is the job?

  • Ensure accurate, timely and compliant management of all accounting information in relation to accounting standards, regulatory requirements and group corporation tax.
  • Coordination of financial audits, providing necessary financial information and support.
  • Take ownership and deliver continuous improvement of all financial information and key finance processes for the UK and overseas subsidiaries.
  • Support the commercial finance team with information and performance analysis to assist decision making, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Preparation of a subsidiary management accounts pack including P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet with variance analysis.
  • Management and development of direct reports whilst provide mentoring and support to the wider finance team.
  • Work closely with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to address financial inquiries and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor the general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes ensuring a high standard is maintained.
  • Challenge current processes and demonstrate a capacity to suggest improved and streamlined ways of working whilst managing stakeholder expectations.

What are you like?

  • Appropriate accounting qualification ACCA or ACA.
  • Practice background in Audit or Accounts
  • Must have experience of external audit (essential)
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts
  • A track record of delivering audit plans on time (essential)
  • Experience of working with Hyperion systems (desirable)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office especially Excel (essential)
