Job Description

Practice Accountant | Leicester | £32,000-£40,000 DOE

We are thrilled to be working with a fantastic and expanding accountancy practice in Leicester who are looking to add to their talented accounts and audit department. AAT or equivalent qualified, you will be looking to take that next step and join an organisation who will support your further development and progression within the firm. This role will be diverse, with tasks ranging from managing accounts to preparing financial statements for a varied client base across multiple industries. Additionally, this opportunity extends to involvement in specialised areas such as charity, not-for-profit organisations, and pension scheme accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the secondary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, ensuring efficient management of assignments and timely completion of work.
  • Prepare annual accounts and tax computations for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Engage in audit and independent examination assignments for companies, as well as specialised tasks involving charities and pension schemes.
  • Prepare management accounts and provide quarterly or monthly financial information.
  • Compile quarterly VAT returns.
  • Mentor and support the development of trainee accountants in their assignments.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by managing and surpassing client expectations, addressing ad-hoc queries promptly.
  • Uphold current technical knowledge and attend relevant training, conferences, and seminars.
  • Efficiently manage all work in adherence to company procedures, ensuring profitability.

Required Skills

  • AAT Qualified or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience within a UK practice environment. (2 years minimum)
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, particularly Xero, with an adeptness for quick adaptation to new software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, excelling in surpassing client expectations.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in networking and contributing to business development.
  • Ability to work independently on assignments while collaborating effectively within a larger team and supporting trainees.
