They are looking for an exceptional individual to join the board as a Non-Executive Director. This individual will join as a NED and assume the role of Chair of the Audit Committee when the current incumbent retires next year.You will provide an independent view on the running of the business of BHSF and its governance. In both the initial and substantive post, you will act as a critical friend who will oversee and constructively challenge management in its implementation of strategy within the Group's system of governance and the risk appetite set by the Board.

The Chair of Audit Committee is responsible for, but not limited to;

• Planning, chairing and reporting on all meetings of Audit Committee.
• Ensuring that the Committee's Terms of Reference in respect of Committee membership, conduct of meetings and Committee effectiveness are satisfied on an ongoing basis.
• Ensuring that the Committee's Terms of Reference in respect of External Audit, Internal Audit, Internal Controls, Annual Accounts and the external publication of documents are satisfied on an ongoing basis.
• Liaising regularly with the relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure all accountabilities are achieved.
• Liaising regularly with the Group CEO and Chief Risk Officer, to discuss any control weaknesses, how they might be resolved and how Committee oversight will be achieved.
• Initiating and maintaining an annual Audit Committee effectiveness review.

We are looking for a qualified accountant, someone with a strong finance or audit background, who can understand BHSF's unique culture and values, and contribute to the development of their ambitious strategic plans.

You will demonstrate a first-class record of achievement at board/senior executive level in an organisation of similar size and complexity. You will possess an excellent knowledge of corporate governance and/or financial governance and have experience and knowledge of working in or with highly regulated organisations.

This is a paid post and there is an expectation that you will dedicate the requisite time to the post to enable you to discharge your duties effectively.
