Management Accountant | South Derbyshire | £45,000 - £49,000

Macildowie Finance is currently working on a position offering the opportunity to work for a leading business, based in Melbourne, Derbyshire and this company is well established and has offices internationally. Current turnover sits around £10m.

Recruiting for a Management Accountant, this job within a small team will report to the Finance Director and will be responsible for managing financial operations, analysing financial data, assisting with budgeting and forecasting as well as presenting financial reports to senior management. They will need to possess excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a small finance team to meet deadlines.

The role is part of a small finance team of 4 but requires an element of 'hands on' accounting to get into the detail. This new role will take some duties away from the Finance Director, research areas of international expansion and also take the lead on systems to manage the growth.

What is the job?

· Monthly compilation of management financial reports and reconciliation of the balance sheet.

· Preparation of financial statements and comprehensive reports for senior executives.

· Conducting thorough financial analysis to spot trends, potential risks, and opportunities.

· Collaborating on budgeting and forecasting with departmental managers to create and oversee budgets.

· Careful examination and analysis of expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.

· Implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure strict adherence to accounting standards and regulations.

· Proactive market analysis to drive updates to systems and processes.

· Offering financial insights and guidance to senior management to facilitate strategic decision-making.

· Assisting in the preparation of year-end financial accounts.

· Taking responsibility for and managing quarterly VAT returns.

· Oversight of the fixed asset register and monthly calculations for depreciation.

· Forecasting cash flow to ensure financial stability.

· Participation in ad-hoc projects and providing support to the Associate Finance Director.

· Managing a small finance team responsible for purchase and sales ledger functions.

What are you like?

  • Good interpersonal communication skills, such as written, oral and persuasive communication abilities.
  • Characteristics of thoroughness, self-motivation, persistence, resilience and dedication to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Tax and international group reporting would be advantageous
  • Good maths and computer skills especially MS Excel and a bespoke finance system
  • Analytical and logical problem solving skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • An ability to explain complex financial information in a clear way
  • Honesty and discretion
  • Able to work within a company with a close relationship to the wider business
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA Qualified
