Bookkeeper

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding accountancy firm located in Nottinghamshire. With a dedicated team of 12 professionals in the office, they are committed to providing exceptional financial services to our clients. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Book Keeper to join a team of 5 experienced Book Keepers. Vibrant, fun office. Great benefits package, including Christmas off.
Job Title: Book Keeper
Location: Nottinghamshire
Full-Time, Permanent, Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:30 - 17:00, Friday 08:30 - 16:00
Salary Range: £20,000 - £35,000 (Depending on Experience)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Record and maintain financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payments, and receipts in an organised and efficient manner.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring invoices are processed and payments are made or received promptly.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries, updating accounts, and ensuring financial data is up-to-date and accurate.
- VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Generate regular financial reports, such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets, to provide insights into the company's financial health.
- Expense Management: Monitor and control company expenses, verifying expense reports and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Record Retention: Maintain organised and secure financial records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Software Proficiency: Utilise accounting software packages such as Sage, Xero, or Quickbooks to manage financial data efficiently.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes.
- Financial Analysis: Assist in analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to address queries, collect necessary financial information, and provide excellent customer service.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on accounting regulations, practices, and software updates to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience in bookkeeping or an AAT qualification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with accounting software packages such as Sage, Xero, or Quickbooks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly growing firm.
