Job Title: Credit & Sales Ledger Controller

Macildowie are looking for an experienced Credit & Sales Ledger Controller for our client, to join a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation that values innovation and teamwork. As the company continue to grow, I am seeking a dedicated and experienced Credit & Sales Ledger Controller to join our finance team.

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £27000

Hybrid After Probation - 3 days in the office 2 from home.

Job Summary:

The Credit & Sales Ledger Controller will play a critical role in managing the company's financial transactions related to sales and credit control. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of sales invoices, monitoring customer accounts, and minimising bad debt exposure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment of invoices and proactively follow up on overdue accounts. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve payment issues.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, making recommendations for credit limits and payment terms.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies, including unauthorised deductions and disputes.
  • Maintain and regularly update accounts receivable aging reports to identify and address delinquent accounts.
  • Maintain professional and positive communication with customers, providing statements, invoices, and responding to queries and disputes.
  • Collaborate with senior management to assess and provide input on the calculation of bad debt provisions.
  • Generate and analyse regular reports related to sales ledger and credit control performance, presenting findings and recommendations to management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of credit and sales ledger operations.
  • Stay up to date with relevant financial regulations, ensuring that all activities adhere to legal requirements and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Credit Controller who has demonstrated expertise in an SME setting
  • A genuine enthusiasm for effecting change and achieving success within the position
  • Exceptional proficiency in IT, particularly Excel
  • Capacity to adjust and remain adaptable in response to evolving demands
  • Self-driven and assured in your methodology, capable of working independently
  • Strong communication abilities, both in spoken and written form
