Job Description

We are currently collaborating with a dynamic client based in Burton on Trent, actively seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their team at a pivotal moment for their business. Recently relocated to new UK headquarters, our client is in the process of standardising finance processes and implementing a new ERP system.

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk

Location: Burton on Trent (Hybrid working with flexible hours, 2/3 days in the office)

Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum

Holiday: 25 days per year (pro rata for temp), separate bank holidays

Pension: 5% company pension contribution

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage the flow of invoices through the system, ensuring timely processing for payment.
  • Build relationships across the business, providing training and support on raising purchase orders and approving invoices.
  • Increase process automation by setting up and maintaining supplier templates and workflows in the system.
  • Conduct supplier reconciliations and promptly resolve invoice queries.
  • Maintain a tidy and up-to-date ledger, ensuring comprehensive notes on accounts and regular housekeeping.
  • Champion best practices, collaborating with team colleagues to review and improve working methods, driving efficiencies, and enhancing key performance indicators.

Skills:

  • Previous experience in Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable within an organisation fostering a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and experience working with an ERP system (Dynamics 365 experience is beneficial).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results.
  • A team player with self-motivation.
  • Effective prioritisation of workload.
