Finance Assistant

Location: Derby City Centre

Job Type: Temporary (with potential for permanent placement)

Hours: Full-time, In-office

Sector: Public

Salary: £11.50 per hour (once taken on permanently, the salary will be £22,000 - £23,000 per annum)

Job Overview:

As a Finance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in financial operations. Your responsibilities will encompass various financial tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit and compliance, budget management, and financial advice and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable: Process and manage supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Accounts Receivable: Assist in maintaining accurate records of incoming payments, issuing invoices, and managing debtors.
  • Audit and Compliance: Support the finance team in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Budget Management: Contribute to the budgeting process and monitor financial performance against budgets.
  • Financial Advice and Support: Provide financial information and insights to aid in decision-making and cost control.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced finance role, this role will mostly be within accounts payable with other elements of finance included, accounts payable experience would be very beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
