Accounts Assistant | 6 Month FTC | Leicester | Up To £26,000

About the Role:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be an integral part of our Finance Team, focusing on the Surety Division. This is a 6-month contract where you'll work closely with our team to ensure smooth operations during a system change, while also handling day-to-day tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Support the team with Business as Usual (BAU) operations and assist during system testing and training.
  • Handle daily cashiering for various business units and conduct reconciliations.
  • Aid in credit control for performance and non-lay deputy bonds, including reporting.
  • Allocate bordereau payments on a monthly basis and address queries promptly.
  • Minimize unallocated cash for Surety, providing regular updates to management.
  • Provide general Surety-related support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in processing payments for claims and refunds within defined SLAs.
  • Contribute to month-end duties and ensure timely submission of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Set up direct debit mandates and conduct deputy bond collections.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong accounting technical knowledge.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a cashiering role.
  • Solid understanding of double entry accounting.
  • Proven experience in cash allocation and actively reducing unallocated cash.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and query resolution abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
