Payroll Administrator

📍 Derby
💰 Salary: Up to £32,000

An established and fast-paced organisation based in Derby is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join their busy payroll team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and enjoys working with accuracy and efficiency.

The Role:

You will be responsible for processing three monthly payrolls for approximately 5,500 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing three monthly payrolls for approximately 5,500 employees

  • Managing new starters, leavers, tax code changes, and manual PAYE and NI calculations

  • Processing statutory absence types including SSP, SMP, SPP, and company sick pay

  • Reconciling third-party deductions and issuing statutory forms such as P45s

  • Performing exception reporting and ensuring payroll accuracy

  • Responding to payroll queries via email and telephone in a professional and timely manner

  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and contributing to process improvements

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years' payroll experience with strong knowledge of PAYE, NI, NMW, and statutory payments

  • Confident completing manual payroll calculations

  • Experience using ResourceLink or SAP is essential

  • Highly organised with the ability to manage tight deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook

  • Excellent numeracy, attention to detail, and communication skills

  • A collaborative team player who remains calm and solutions-focused under pressure
