Payroll Specialist / Payroll Administrator

Hybrid - 3 days office-based (Derby)
Full-time | 37.5 hours, Monday-Friday
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 + excellent benefits

An established and growing organisation is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Specialist / Payroll Administrator to join a small, collaborative payroll team. This role supports a high-volume, multi-entity payroll environment and offers the opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive and people-focused culture.

You'll work closely with the Payroll Manager and wider People team, taking responsibility for accurate and compliant payroll processing while contributing to continuous improvement and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process monthly payrolls in line with UK statutory requirements

  • Maintain payroll records including starters, leavers, salary changes, and benefits

  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, pensions, and employment legislation

  • Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies

  • Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and empathetically

  • Produce payroll reports for internal stakeholders and audits

  • Support process improvements and payroll-related projects

  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation and best practice

About You

  • Proven experience in payroll administration or payroll specialist roles

  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory obligations

  • Confident using payroll systems (experience with IRIS / IRIS Cascade desirable)

  • Good Excel skills and strong attention to detail

  • Organised, dependable, and able to manage multiple payrolls

  • Approachable, professional, and discreet with confidential information

  • Looking for stability with scope to grow and develop over time
