An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Receivable Assistant to join a well-established business based in Desborough on a 7-month fixed term contract. This role sits within a collaborative finance team and offers a structured environment with the opportunity to develop strong transactional finance experience.

The position will focus on supporting the Accounts Receivable function, managing customer accounts and ensuring the accurate processing of financial transactions. Due to working with several international customers, a large proportion of communication will take place via email, requiring strong written communication and organisational skills.

The role will be office-based for the first three months to support onboarding and training, before moving to a 50% hybrid working pattern.

The Role

As an Accounts Receivable Assistant, you will support the smooth running of the AR function while maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and external customers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing customer accounts within the Accounts Receivable ledger
  • Allocating incoming customer payments accurately
  • Managing client communication primarily via email, particularly with international customers across different time zones
  • Monitoring outstanding balances and supporting credit control activities
  • Supporting the month-end Accounts Receivable close process
  • Importing and processing daily bank statements
  • Ensuring customers remain within agreed credit limits
  • Liaising with internal teams to release orders where sufficient credit is available
  • Maintaining and updating the cashbook
  • Supporting the finance team with journals and transactional processing
  • Assisting with general finance administration and providing cover within the wider finance team when required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have experience within a transactional finance position and be comfortable managing financial data and client communication.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in Accounts Receivable, Sales Ledger or Credit Control
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly when managing client queries via email
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a finance team
