Macildowie are actively recruiting for a well-established, global manufacturing business who are seeking a Financial Controller to lead the finance function at one of its key UK sites in Derby.
This is a high-impact, site-based role offering strong exposure to operations with a clear career pathway.

The Role
Reporting to the Director with a functional reporting line to the Group CFO, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of financial control and reporting for a key manufacturing site.
You will play a critical role in driving financial performance, improving reporting quality, and partnering closely with operational teams to support decision-making and cost control.
This is a hands-on position with significant exposure to manufacturing operations, particularly around costing and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function for the site, ensuring strong financial control and accurate reporting
- Deliver monthly management accounts within a tight close timetable
- Own standard costing processes and support cost control initiatives
- Provide commercial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Partner closely with site leadership and operational teams
- Deliver budgets, quarterly forecasts and long-term planning
- Manage working capital and cash flow forecasting
- Support statutory accounts preparation and lead audit processes
- Ensure compliance with VAT, HMRC and Intrastat reporting
- Support the implementation and optimisation of a group ERP system
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, processes and systems
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
- Strong understanding of standard costing and cost control
- Proven experience delivering management accounts and forecasts
- Commercially minded with strong business partnering capability
- Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle or similar preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Confident communicator, able to engage with non-finance stakeholders
- Hands-on, proactive and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
