Position: Indirect Category Manager - 6 Month Contract

Location: Derbyshire

Type: 6 Month Contract (Potential to go permanent)

Hybrid: 2 days in the office, 3 from home

Salary: £200 - £300 p/d + Travel benifits

Role Overview

I currently have an exciting role within the Public Sector as an Indirect Category Manager within their projects team, you will be part of a Team of 10 within Procurement responsible for helping with multiple categories across the board including Marketing, Fleet, IT, maintenance and utilities. If you enjoy working in a team environment and collaboratively succeeding this is certainly the role for you!

Responsibilities

- Reporting to the Category Head, you will be responsible for management of a range of indirect procurement projects including Marketing, Fleet, IT, Utilities and Maintenance as well as working towards strategic and commercial targets.

- Identify cost saving opportunities and developing a strategy through negotiations and mapping.

- Analyse supplier resources to ensure continued development support.

- Ideally have previous project experience or NEC 4/UCR experience.

- Understanding of cost drivers in a Purchasing environment and experience of cost reduction and category management previously.

- Supports supplier relationship management of valuable business vendors.

- Negotiation of pricing, rebates, payment terms with suppliers while also creating new supplier relationships.

Requirements

- Demonstrates some experience of Public Sector Procurement or Public Sector environment.

- Strong Communication, negotiation skills and commercial acumen.

- Practical experience of tendering or previous Category Management within the categories listed.

- CIPS qualification or willingness to pursue it.

- Demonstrated track record of effective supplier management.

- Comfortable working in a team environment, handling diverse accountabilities/tasks.

- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

- Effective communicator at all levels, internally and externally.

- Analytically adept and numerically sound.

- Computer literacy, particularly with MS Office tools.
