Position: Programme Purchasing Project Leader

Location: Uttoxeter

Type: Permanent

Model: Fully on Site

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

On behalf of our client we are recruiting a Purchasing Project Leader to join their team. As a Purchasing Project Leader, you will play a crucial role in driving activity in all NPIP (New Product Introduction Process) and localisation projects ensuring projects are completed on time and risk mitigation around material availability.

The Purchasing Project Leader will not be purchasing any materials as such but be responsible for coordinating and supporting all Purchasing activities with the projects & engineering teams related to NPIP and localisation projects. This challenging position requires a self-motivated and process-driven individual who can work both independently and as part of a team. Effective communication at all levels of the business and the ability to prioritize workloads to meet precise deadlines are crucial for success.

Responsibilities as a Programme Purchasing Project Leader

- Project Sourcing Reviews: Ensure the scope and targets of the new programme are agreed upon through cross-functional reviews, facilitating early supplier engagement, purchasing category compliance, and a commercial approach.

- Plan for Every Part (PFEP): Generate and maintain a PFEP to support Engineering in constructing a drawing release plan. Project manage long lead time parts, working with category teams to create countermeasures and monitor supplier delivery.

- Confidentiality: Manage the completion of supplier non-disclosure agreements for specific programmes.

- Component Validation: Support engineering with the fit-for-purpose sign-off procedure.

- Risk Mitigation: Identify appropriate suppliers for product launch reviews and manage any associated risks.

- Quality Control: Monitor and report the overall quality status, supporting the monitoring of timing plans and expediting of parts and/or quality documents.

- Cost Control: Collaborate with Engineering and various Purchasing teams to support the target creation process for new parts and report the consolidated status, progress, and cost-saving opportunities throughout the launch of a programme.

- Gate Reviews: Prepare papers summarising the overall Purchasing position for the NPIP gate reviews and represent the function when appropriate.

Experience & Qualifications

- Engineering and/or Programme Management understanding

- Graduate calibre

- Preferably CIPS/PRINCE2 qualified

- Production or Engineering background
