Macildowie Recruitment & Retention - Procurement, Supply Chain & Logistics
Buyer - Up to £40,000 Per Annum - Leicester
Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm - Hybrid Working Available

Macildowie Procurement has exclusively partnered with a manufacturing organisation in Leicester to recruit a Buyer.

The key objective is to operate in a standalone position, overseeing both the transactional and strategic purchasing duties. This role requires somebody to comfortably build relationships with suppliers and develop relationships internally.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure stock availability aligns with the production schedule.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in future demand planning based on seasonal activities.
  • Provide input on projected inventory and availability levels, raising alerts for potential issues.
  • Ensure accurate visibility on planned product arrivals for assigned SKUs.
  • Manage and conduct tendering processes.
  • Prepare and maintain stock reports.
  • Raise routine purchase orders for production stock and ad hoc requirements, focusing on best quality, price, and delivery.
  • Maintain and optimise the purchasing relationship with suppliers, ensuring materials meet specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Continuously evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate supplier data and procurement records for analysis and reporting.
  • Mitigate risk in the supply chain though dual sourcing, buffer stock agreements and identifying alternative solutions.


The Candidate

  • Previous experience operating in Buyer/Senior Buyer positions or similar.
  • CIPS accreditation or working towards.
  • Able to travel to Leicester.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain, and inventory management.
  • Ability to work in a reactive procurement environment.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
