Job Description
Interim Procurement Officer
Local Authority | 3–6 Month Contract
Macildowie Public Sector team is supporting a Local Authority in sourcing an experienced Interim Procurement Officer to provide short‑term cover during a period of increased workload.
This is an initial 3–6 month temporary assignment for a confident procurement professional who can work independently and manage a broad range of public‑sector procurement activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver end‑to‑end procurement support across goods, services, concessions and works
- Manage open quotations and tenders, framework direct awards, and mini‑competitions
- Ensure strict compliance with public‑sector PA23 regulations and Contract Procedure Rules
- Act as a “critical friend” by constructively challenging and refining specifications
- Provide clear advice to stakeholders in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment
About You
- Strong public‑sector procurement experience, ideally within a local authority
- Proven ability to work autonomously and hit the ground running
- Highly organised with a careful, methodical (“belt and braces”) approach
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder‑management skills
