Job Description

Macildowie are delighted to be working in partnership with Leicester City Council to appoint a Senior Accountant - Capital and Projects to join their fast-paced, dynamic organisation.

The council provides support and services to 348,000 people in Leicester covering a wide range of services including education, housing, social care and infrastructure. By joining this organisation you will be able to positively contribute to enriching the lives of the people who live in the East Midlands' largest city.

Leading a small team you will take responsibility for the capital accounting function for the authority and your duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Preparing capital budgets and forecasts.
  • Identifying areas of risk and opportunity and execute appropriate responses.
  • Provide Elected Members and Senior Managers with information and advice to inform policy decisions on overall financial strategy.
  • Provide support and expertise to finance team colleagues and service-based staff or other groups.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council's financial strategy.
  • Act as a point of expertise in the organisation and provide advice and support in the relevant specialism.

This is a high-profile position within the Council and you will get exposure to all areas of the authority with great opportunities for future development and progression. You will be a confident and enthusiastic candidate with experience of managing capital reporting ideally within a local authority. Alternatively, candidates who have worked within capital accounting in comparable public sector bodies including the NHS will also be considered and welcomed.
