The council provides support and services to 348,000 people in Leicester covering a wide range of services including education, housing, social care and infrastructure. Leading a small team you will take responsibility for the capital accounting function for the authority and your duties and responsibilities will include;

• Preparing capital budgets and forecasts.
• Identifying areas of risk and opportunity and execute appropriate responses.
• Provide Elected Members and Senior Managers with information and advice to inform policy decisions on overall financial strategy.
• Provide support and expertise to finance team colleagues and service-based staff or other groups.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council's financial strategy.
• Act as a point of expertise in the organisation and provide advice and support in the relevant specialism.

This is a high-profile position within the Council and you will get exposure to all areas of the authority with great opportunities for future development and progression. You will be a confident and enthusiastic candidate with experience of managing capital reporting ideally within a local authority. Alternatively, candidates who have worked within capital accounting in comparable public sector bodies including the NHS will also be considered and welcomed.
