Job Description

Macildowie are delighted to be working in partnership with a Local Authority in the North West to appoint a Finance Manager to take responsibility for their corporate and technical financial reporting.

Working closely with and supporting an excellent Deputy S151 Officer, you will lead a team of talented accountants in the preparation of the financial accounts, year-end close and budget setting for revenue and capital.

The duties will include, but not limited to;

  • To lead on technical accounting matters within the Finance Team and to lead on the production of the annual statement of accounts ensuring that technical standards and requirements are met.
  • To deliver the Council's strategic aims and objectives by ensuring that the Finance Team contribute effectively to Corporate initiatives and priorities supporting and enabling customer-facing and back office support services.
  • To work closely with Heads of Service and Service Managers to ensure robust budget setting, monitoring and management and to ensure an effective system of internal control.
  • To assist the Deputy 151 Officer in leading on and managing the corporate framework for revenue and capital budget estimates in liaison with budget managers and in accordance with the approved corporate timetable and guidelines.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of financial and technical accounting within a local authority. However, you do not have to be a qualified accountant as our client is open to applicants who are looking to make the next step in their career at a part-qualified level or candidates who have a qualified accountant as our client is open to applicants who are looking to make the next step in their career at a part-qualified level or candidates who have a demonstrable track record of technical accounting without a formal qualification will also be considered.
