Credit Controller

£28,000 - £30,000 DOE | Hybrid Working | Full Time

Macildowie are partnering with a well-established business to recruit an experienced Credit Controller to join their finance team.

The Role

As Credit Controller, you'll be responsible for managing your own portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring payments are collected on time while maintaining excellent customer relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Proactively chasing outstanding invoices by telephone, email and letter.
• Managing a high-volume sales ledger and reducing aged debt.
• Building strong relationships with customers to encourage prompt payment.
• Negotiating payment plans where appropriate.
• Resolving invoice and account queries in collaboration with internal teams.
• Monitoring customer accounts and escalating overdue debt when necessary.
• Producing reports on outstanding debt and collection activity.
• Processing customer payments and supporting cash allocation where required.
• Making informed decisions regarding credit limits and order release.
• Maintaining accurate account records and ensuring all customer interactions are documented.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in a Credit Control position.
• A proven track record of reducing aged debt and improving cash collection.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence communicating with customers at all levels.
• The ability to prioritise a busy workload and work to targets.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• A proactive, resilient and positive approach.
